Whether you call them watersports, golden showers, or pee play, they’re all related to the same fetish: arousal by urine. It isn’t the most common kink out there, or at least, not admitted. The study of various fetishes is definitely under researched, so there aren’t any solid numbers on the percentage of people with urophilia, as it’s technically known. However, after the news (or “fake news”?) was released that United States President Trump enjoyed a golden shower or two from some Russian sex workers, everyone’s curiosity was piqued.

Not everyone’s interest in watersports involves being peed on or peeing on others, though that may be the most popular. Let’s explore all the different variations of pee play!

Watersports

watersportsThis is probably the most common type of pee play, and it’s what comes to mind when you think of golden showers. This is the act of peeing on or in, or being peed on or in by someone. It can be associated with BDSM, as it’s a show of dominance to pee on someone, but it doesn’t have to be about that. Some people just enjoy the feel or smell of urine and it’s arousing. Just remember that urine is generally sterile, but it can transfer bacteria or STIs. Just get a urinalysis done first to make sure you don’t have a bacterial infection, and be up to date on your STI screenings before you try urinating inside someone.

Desperation

In this subcategory of pee play, you might excited by the act of holding it in as long as you can. Doing it yourself could be arousing, or watching someone else dance about while trying to hold it could do it for you. Typically, this sort of act could lead to one wetting themselves, which leads to another subsection of pee fetishes.

Wetting

Another form of urine arousal is wetting, also known as omorashi, which is a Japanese term for wetting oneself. Some may get off on wetting themselves, while others are aroused by seeing another pee their pants. Sometimes this translates to specific clothing, too. You might find it particularly titillating to see someone pee in their jeans or panties.

Voyeurism

A simple way some may get pleasure from pee is through the act of just watching someone else pee. The biggest issue with this is that public voyeurism is a big no-no without consent. Just make sure the person peeing knows that you’re watching and is totally cool with it.

So, the question remaining might be: Why? People enjoy fetishes for many reasons. While watersports is closely associated to BDSM and dominance (and humiliation), it could also be a simpler reason. Trying something new is a big reason why we might get aroused.

Bottom line, though, is that enjoying some form of urophilia does not mean there’s something wrong with you (or you, Trump, if that news is true). It doesn’t necessarily mean that you may have a psychological disorder. All it means is that you have different preferences and you’re adventurous. Nothing wrong with that. The only reason there should be concern is if the pee play is done without consent.
